Before and after comparison
This sloping garden in Ealing had lots of lovely plants, but lacked structure and had quite a mean sized patio near the house. As it faces east, the clients wanted an area for dining towards the end of the garden. We increased the size of the patio by the house and added some wide steps, reshaped the borders with lawn edging, and placed stepping stones through the lawn to give structure as well as being practical in wet weather. Clay pavers are used for the dining area with timber sleepers to retain the edges. Two apple trees at the end of the garden were kept and are set within a generous area of woodland planting. The garden was planted up by our client - a bit of a plant lover - working the existing plants into the planting scheme.
