Before and after comparison
This long thin garden in Chiswick was a blank canvas. The new owners wanted to include some areas for seating, trees for screening, and a garden building for a small gym and separate workshop.
During the concept stage we considered a small lawn, but in the end settled for a generous path staggered between areas of planting and a small area for growing vegetables in raised beds. The paving is a mix of Jura grey limestone with bands of london mix clay pavers to tie in with the back of the house. Planting includes a crab apple and Cornus mas for screening, low bands of Euonymus hedge and a mix of shrubs, perennials and ferns for seasonal interest.
